Yan Xuetong was born in 1952 at Tianjin. He is serving as the Dean of the Institute of International Relations, Tsinghua University, Secretary General of the World Peace Forum and the Editor-in-Chief of The Chinese Journal of International Politics. He is Vice Chairman of both China Association of International Relations Studies and China Association of American Studies, and a member of Consultation Committee of Ministry of Commerce of PRC.
Dr. Yan received his Ph. D of political science from University of California, Berkeley in 1992, M.A. of international relations from the Institute of International Relations in 1986 and B.A. of English from Heilongjiang University in 1982.
He is the author of International Environment for China’s Rise, American Hegemony and China’s Security, International Politics and China, Inertia of History: China and the World in Next 10 Years, China & Asia-Pacific Security, The Analysis of International Relations-Second Edition and the coauthor of China’s Foreign Relations with Major Powers 1950-2005.
