Xihui Sun is a postdoctoral research fellow and associate professor at National Institute of International Strategy (NIIS) in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
He earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Yantai Normal University, master’s degree in English from Shandon University, and a PhD in International Relations from Renmin University of China.
Sun’s research interests are: foreign strategies, Sino-US relations, and international relations in the Asia-Pacific Region. Some of the research projects he has done include: “Influence on China’s Geo-politics of US Asia-Pacific Rebalancing Strategy and China’s Response” (principal investigator, 2016-), supported by National Social Science Fund of China; “Comparative Studies of Foreign Policies Decision-Making Institutions in China and the US” (principal investigator, 2014-15), supported by the Dr. Seaker Chan Center for Comparative Politics Development Studies
Additionally, he has published several journal articles: “Security Issues in Korean Peninsular and Diplomatic Choice of China: Analysis in the Perspective of Complex System”, “AIIB: Combination of Opportunities and Obligations” and “Promotion of TPP by the US and Corresponding Reaction of China.”
In the next one or two years, he plans to research in fields such as “Logic of US-South Korea Alliance”, “Root and Drives of the Korean Nuclear Issue”, “Theoretical Interpretation of US’ Alliance in the Asia-Pacific Region”.
