Jia XU teaches and researches at Fudan University’s Journalism School. Her specializations are international communications and new media communications. She is particularly interested in connections between the two fields, e.g. global Internet governance.
Jia received her PhD degree in Journalism and Communications from Tsinghua University, Beijing, MA degree in Transnational Communications and Global Media from Goldsmiths College, the University of London and BA degree in English Language from Hangzhou Normal University. In summer 2014, she finished a three-year post-doctoral research program at Fudan University.
Before joining Fudan University’s Journalism School as a lecturer, Jia was associate professor of communications at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and director of its Cross-cultural Communications Research Centre. She currently serves as researcher at both the Tsinghua-Nikkei Media Research Centre and the State Innovative Institute for the Studies of Journalism, Communication and Media Society at Fudan University.
