Ding Gang was born in 1950s and graduated from the English Department of Xi’an International Studies University in 1982. He finished his graduate program at the Journalism Department of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1987, and got Master of law and joined the International News Department of the People’s Daily in the same year. Since 1990, Ding has served as a correspondent in Sweden, Belgium(European Union), the United Nations(New York, US), and the Asia-Pacific(Bangkok, Thailand), and also has been the deputy director of the People’s Daily’s International News Department. Ding was among the first group of Chinese correspondents to enter ground zero after the 9/11 terrorist attack in 2001. In recent years, he has written numerous editorial articles on politics and economic issues, drawing great attention and winning many news prizes in China.
